Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is a government initiative that provides additional funding to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The personal circumstances of some children can have a detrimental impact on their achievement, pupil premium is used to support disadvantaged pupils and try to ensure they have the same life chances as their peers.

Pupil premium funding is available to both mainstream and non-mainstream schools, such as special schools and pupil referral units. It is paid to schools according to the number of pupils who have :

  • been registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
  • been in care for 6 months or longer
  • have a parent in the armed forces

Our school receives our pupil premium funding directly from the Local Authority based on the number of looked after children, service children and children eligible for free school meals. The budget received this financial year (2022) is £123,740. Our aims for this year are :

  • To ensure children attend school regularly and on time
  • To increase parental engagement
  • To improve the emotional well-being of the children
  • To raise attainment in Phonics, Reading and Maths
  • Provide the children with rich experiences and diverse, varied opportunities
